Planning for Policy Action
A team-based workshop series for municipal and county agencies advancing local policy change.
The Planning for Policy Action Track is an opportunity to join a tight knit network of practitioners and advocates who are committed to adopting policies that drive equitable park access. Grounded in the 10-Minute Walk Key Park Equity Policies Framework, the cohort will explore municipal policies that shape park investment and improvements, how people access parks, and the public processes involved in these decisions. We will explore the following park-related policies in this cohort:
-
Park Needs Assessment
-
Park Impact Fee
-
Parkland Dedication Ordinance
-
Developer Incentives for Parks or Public Space
-
Common or Shared Open Space Requirements
Program Structure
Cities in the Planning for Policy Action Track have a baseline understanding of their local policy challenges. Through this cohort, the 10-Minute Walk program will collaborate closely to provide capacity building, connect with peer cities, and bring in subject matter experts to clarify issues and identify meaningful actions.
